Who we are

Education · Preservation · Conservation

Cleeve Prior Heritage Trust is a registered charity established in March 1997. The Trust is overseen by a board of Trustees, led by its Chairman, and supported by dedicated local volunteers. Our headquarters are located at Field Barn, a Grade II Listed Barn, on the southern edge of the village on the B4085.

The purpose of the Charity is to provide education and to preserve, protect, and conserve the land and buildings for the benefit of Cleeve Prior and the surrounding area.

The Trust owns 15 acres of land, including traditional orchards, woodland, open grassland, mature scrub, and ponds. Part of our woodland, the Sanctuary and Sanctuary Wood is situated in the heart of the village off Quarry Lane. These various sites are connected by a network of public and permissive footpaths. The Heritage Trust also houses a historic Market Gardener’s hovel, a time capsule restored by the Worcestershire County Council Archaeological Department and community volunteers.

Additionally, the Trust manages another 15 acres for two trusts: the Cleeve Prior Millennium Green Trust (10 acres) and the Vale Landscape Heritage Trust (5 acres).

Our land is a haven for wildlife and rare species, such as the Great Crested Newt and the Noble Chaffer beetle. The orchards are rich with wildflowers and orchids, supporting a healthy butterfly population. The barn and outbuildings provide a home for Pipistrelle Bats and summer-nesting swallows.

Cleeve Prior Heritage Trust is CEVAS accredited and hosts numerous school visits each year. These visits are increasingly popular, offering pupils the chance to interact with nature in a fun, outdoor learning environment.

We also welcome group visits from ramblers and other organisations who make good use of the Field Barn complex, which includes our enclosed gardens, meeting room with Wi-Fi, kitchen, and modern restrooms. Light refreshments are available upon request.
